Cold Open: Debate and Rallies
A 13 min open?! that’s crazy.
Monolauge
love this outfit, this was cute but really short
Skits
gameshow: not really good, didnt really didnt get it
spirut halloween: hilarious. loved this spin off ad. pretty easy to make, but well done.
Children’s math book: i think this had potential, but as the joke went on, idk if it made much sense, kinda forgettable
i love lucy: once again this fell flat…i get the concept but not great
talk talk: a few giggles, good impression of charli, good concept not great execution
Artist— Jelly Roll
watching this back from more recent episodes, you can tell the writers wrote “i miss my ex’s dad” based on these performances. it’s just typical country music. there’s no set, no stage performance ugh
Weekend Update
nothing memorable here, the guests weren’t great. maybe moo deng
Nikki Glaser— November 8, 2025
Cold Open
this was just a renactment of the press conference, it’s just ok
Monolauge
not a fan of this dress, looks homecoming, and off the bat i wish a little bit more energy
this is more stand up, leans heavy republican, joke about molestation? this isnt a good open because it’s making you forget it’s SNL.
Skits
Family Karaoke: this was great, simple concept but executed well. easy jokes to go for, and played well
Jennifer Hudson Commercial: this’ll age out, it’s a current culture thing. Not a bad commercial sketch, but not high on the list either. good chuckles
Beauty and Mr Beast: alright compared to the rest of the sketches, you have to know to know.
American Girl XL: great critique on men these days and the ai girlfriends but making it sex dolls. pretty funny.
two traveling bitches on a mechanical bull: this was insanely hilarious. one of those where you don’t know where it’s going but you know exactly what it is. fantastic writing, great overall. favorite so far
Delta Gamma: this reminded me of white chicks, hilarious. i enjoyed
Brad and his dad: i just generally dont get/like animated sketches. it was ok.
Airplane pilot: hilarious. making fun of a situation that happens, and it’s written well. so funny
anna and the pinwheel: best sketch in a long time. what can i say, i yearn for early 2010s internet humor. idk what that says about me.
Artist— SOMBR
12 to 12: very obvious no one knew this song but then loved it. i did though. i loved this. he could use a bit more pizazz in his presence.
Back to Friends: on the WALL?!?! slay. so cool.
Weekend Update
Political ones weren’t as good as the pop culture ones. Pete Davidson was a great surprise guest, so good to pull him in with Colin. Hilarious jokes about Lorne, about the world, and New Staten Island. Felt very confident in this, and laughed and flowed more than most. Slip that Tina Fey could take over? Wouldnt be mad at this. Would love that.

Cold Open: Press Conference
Better than the rest of the political opens this season. Just fine
Monolauge
I mean this was really cute. Not about humor, but calling back to old acting and bringing the hometown UPS driver here
Skits
Senior Home: hilarious. great concept and criqtiue on modern day technology. it just escalates and you never know what’s gonna happen. great.
Country MV: holy crap. this was great
Sebastian Bachleor: idk, this didnt do it for me.
the actors: i understand this isnt everyones cup of tea, but this reminded me of those early will ferrel sketches
MacGruber: quick, to the point, decently funny for the concept
Slay Division: iconic. period.
Taken Airport: not super memorable, idk, it was fine.
*just a note, but why is Chloe in every skit this episode? like wow this is chloe and glenn
MacGruber pt3: what a good bit throughout a show. it was weird the second time but a third was good comedic timing.
Artist— Olivia Dean
Man I Need: Nothing super memorable about this performance. Very 70s vibe, so it’s cute but im also not a fan of this song tbh.
Weekend Update
For sure one of the more playful ones, the pennies joke was great.
Melissa McCarthy—December 6, 2025
Cold Open: Chief of War
I love that Colin is getting more skit time. Pretty good. Standard open
Monolauge
Why did she seem so nervous at the start? I like the activity throughout this opening. Super cute to involve a lot of the cast. Not personal, just funny.
Skits
The village market- this reminds me of Kristen wig in the best way
Christmas video- why does the us look AI. the kid. This ended up being hilarious. Really played into Melissa’s characters she does well
Ups- these skits just keep getting better. Another great character that she does incredibly well. I feel like the cast can’t keep up with her. There were many moments Mikey day could’ve taken the physical humor to the next level but he didn’t want to overstep, which I think could’ve been avoided by practicing more and communicating
Truth or dare- INCREDIBLE. this is genuinely what happens with the girls. Obsessed.
Artist— Dijon
Idk this guy but it sounds very Frank ocean. It seems like everyone on stage was having a good time. Seemed fun. Vibey.
Weekend Update
Lance with the sun burn I wish the bit wasn’t just about the sunburn like this was supposed to be travel tips and the jokes just didn’t land for me…. It could’ve been better
The raccoon was funny at times. Felt like it used the same joke too much… wish it had more banter

Cold Open
Standard political open — Trump White House with new JD Vance (post-Bowen Yang departure), featured a lot of cast. Relatively good for what it is. Better than recent political opens which felt boring. Using more cast members across different White House roles made it work. Solid political jokes — about as good as you can do during this administration. Still waiting for a non-political cold open.
Monologue
Really cute. Doubled down on the child actor thing but flipped it — he's technically an adult now but still basically a child adult (23 isn't that old). Loved the candor and fourth-wall break. Great delivery, didn't seem nervous. Came across as suave, confident, intentionally poking fun at himself. Sweet moment bringing out his Stranger Things castmates.
Skits
Snack Homies: Didn't like the original from Sabrina's episode — found it annoying. But this iteration worked. Having Fin as the older brother plus bringing back Sabrina and adding A$AP Rocky elevated it. Smart commentary on current gen culture. Anyone over 30 probably won't get it, and that's the point — it's funny because this is literally how kids talk and act right now.
Heated Wizardry: One of my favorite skits of the season, possibly all time. Love when SNL does parody skits — they're easy to write but I don't care, they're just so funny. You can hide so many cultural nuances in them. Truly fantastic. Showcases Fin's range as an actor — he clearly understands how to embody a character and tell that story consistently.
Pop Star Dad: Low-hanging fruit. Forgettable. A chuckle at best, no laugh-out-loud moments. Not many actual jokes.
Stranger Things Parody: Pretty funny. Smart critique on Hollywood's obsession with spin-offs. Liked that they were willing to make fun of Stranger Things itself. Brought back Fin's actual castmates. The Sex and the City callback blended a lot of different cultural references together well.
Dark Orbit: Actually pretty funny. Pushed limits on live performance — Mikey Day kept force-feeding Fin different sweet treats that interrupted him. Good physical comedy. Another showcase of Fin's range. Should have been the 10-to-1 slot instead.
Girlfriend on Boys' Day: Really liked this one. Veronica is absolutely stellar — she's punchy, quick, knows how to take something on. She broke out into a song unexpectedly which was hilarious. She knows her strengths and isn't afraid to play. One of the standout cast members right now.
Free Solo Skyscraper: Just okay. Fin messed up a line. Not many jokes landed. Felt like it should've been swapped with Dark Orbit for the 10-to-1 slot. Forgettable.
Artist— A$AP Rocky
Song 1: Not my type of music personally. But the visual production was really interesting — block party aesthetic, different beat tempos, dancers moshing in the back. Liked that his mic was a megaphone. Some kind of narrative with a shadow self destroying the set, fighting the band, then trying to fight A$AP himself. Very abstract but visually memorable.
Song 2: Pretty cool. Made me want to listen through his album. Both songs changed tempo mid-song which I love. Continued the story from the first performance. A$AP Rocky seems like a very artistic and meaningful person — there's clearly deeper meaning there even if I don't know the lore.
Weekend Update
Alright. Pretty forgettable overall. Best joke was the Scarlet Johansson / Colin Jost net worth comparison. Jane Wickline does very one-dimensional characters and doesn't know how to banter — needs better characterization. Same issue with Chris (the new guy) — doesn't seem to know his own character strengths yet. SNL needs to figure out who does what well.
